Baked Tofu

How to Make Baked Tofu?

Vegans love baked tofu and you will too once you try this recipe. Baked tofu dishes are a dime a dozen but this one really hits the spot when you want some popcorn chicken-type appetizers.

Although this is a cajun-flavored baked tofu dish, tofu is a great medium for cooking. Tofu is bland on its own and takes on whatever flavor you season it with.

If you wanted you can flow the steps below and really add any seasoning that you would like.

What goes good with a Cajun Baked Tofu?

What goes in the Cajun Baked Tofu?

  • Tofu - For this recipe, extra firm tofu is the only way to go. You do not want mushy tofu, so having the extra firm tofu is a must! This will give it a chicken-like texture without all the death.

  • Cajun Spices - Onion powder, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, and paprika. Cajun spices have just the right amount of kick and a lot of flavors.

How long does the recipe last?

This recipe should be served and eaten within the hour in my opinion. The tofu isn't really good heated again unless you baked it on low heat.

The Recipe

Ingredients

See the ingredient list above for replacements and descriptions.

  • 1 block of tofu pressed

  • 1 tablespoon paprika

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon salt optional

  • 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme

  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 400.

  2. After pressing tofu cut the tofu into small cubes about 1 by 1 inch in size.

  3. In a large mixing bowl place the tofu cubes in and add in the olive oil.

  4. Mix the tofu with the olive oil so all the oil is coating the cubes.

  5. Add to the large mixing bowl the onion powder, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, and paprika.

  6. Mix all the contents of the bowl until the cubes have an even coat of seasoning on all the cubes.

  7. On a cookie sheet place the cubes at least 1/4 inch apart so they can cook evenly.

  8. After 10mins in the oven flip the cubes so they cook evenly.

  9. Cook for another 10 mins.

  10. The outside should have a little crisp before removing.

  11. Once the tofu is cooked with a little crisp remove and let cool for 5 mins.

  12. Serve and enjoy.
